FINAL The Word Put on Flesh (On That Jesus Guy)

"When words were not enough, the Word took on flesh and became the story." Rachel Held Evans

He is the Orginator of words. He is the Writer of The Story. He spoke the world into existence. He spoke and created LIFE! He created everything we know. With a single exhale He created Adam, and then He created Eve for Adam "For it is not good for man to be alone."Genesis 2:18

For generations He spoke to His Children--words of hope, words of promise, words of rules and expectations, words of who He was and Whose they were. He spoke through signs, and wonders, and miracles. He spoke through His people, through prophets and kings and shepherds. He spoke and mountains trembled. He spoke and waters parted. He spoke and those who heard Him felt peace...or shook in terror, depending...But, throughout all of Scripture, we find, YHWH was never silent.

But it was not enough. In our arrogance and near-sightedness humanity we were not satisfied with just His words. His commands were overlooked, words of love and wisdom quickly forgotten when circumstances did not go according to plan. We questioned Him, doubted Him, ignored Him; lied to Him and about Him. His words were not enough. and He knew it, He had always known it.

So He took the next step. "
The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood..." John 1:14 MSG

YHWH knew what it would take to get the message across to us. He could not send another prophet, He could not send  a liaison. He could not send another king or leader or servant or army. He had exhausted all other possibilities, and He knew it was time. It was time He sent His Son. He knew the only thing that would work was coming down Himself.

In this one act the author of the Story revealed the main character, confirmed the foreshadowings and engaged the climax in one motion, in one turn of events, in one man--who was fully man, and yet so much more than just a man; He was God Himself. For this was the only way. All of who He was, giving everything He had to offer. Which was a His Kingship laid aside to live a perfect life, perfect, sinless, blameless life--and to give it in sacrificial love.

Our God does not do things half-heartedly. He will not leave us or let us go without giving everything He has to offer. He will always follow through for you, no matter what it takes….He will pursue you, nay…He HAS pursued you with everything He has. He laid aside His Kingship, His right as God of the Universe, His 'superpowers,' if you will, His immortality in order to take on the form of humble servant/sacrificial lamb. No big deal

That's what we treat it as: no big deal…but it's a huge deal. You are loved beyond measure. You are worthy and treasured, not for anything you have done or not done; anything you will or will not do. You are worthy and treasured because you are YOU. You have been created by and for the Creator, and all He asks in return is your love…but He will be denied, again and again. Fret not, for His pursuit of you will not end, not until you have the point of your death.

You are, and ever will be loved, and pursued with purest love and best intentions. It's your choice to accept or refuse. Your choice alone, but the choice is always there; always there.
